Examining Committees

The ARA is an independent not-for-profit organisation that is supported by volunteer professionals from the business community and professional bodies concerned about the quality of reporting.

Each annual report submitted into the ARA Awards is reviewed by at least three members of an expert panel. Each step in the judging process is handled with enthusiasm and commitment by ARA teams of Co-ordinators and Adjudicators Australia-wide.

Reports assessed as meeting most of the ARA criteria are subjected to further reviews by: Co-ordinators; Directors; and Advisory Panel Members. The Awards Committee determines the Gold Award recipients and the winner of the Report of the Year.

Co-ordinators
ARA General Award Co-ordinators are selected from among experienced adjudicators to manage a specific Division. The Co-ordinator is responsible for allocating reports to Adjudicators in that Division, assessment of Adjudicator’s reports and for recommending Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards to the Awards Committee for review. The Co-ordinators for Special Awards are appointed for their expertise in the area of each Award.

Adjudicators
ARA General Award Adjudicators are invited from industry, government or third sector backgrounds to join ARA by the Awards Committee. Duties include reviewing annual reports against the ARA published criteria. Adjudicators recommend either Nil, Bronze, Silver or Gold level Awards to the Co-ordinator responsible for their Division. Adjudication panels for Special Awards are selected from the area of that Award.

The Awards Committee
The Awards Committee consists of all Co-ordinators. It reviews all potential high level Awards and recommends Gold Awards, Special Awards and the Report of the Year for final approval by the ARA Board. The Awards Committee also considers potential Co-ordinators and Adjudicators and recommends appointments to the ARA Board for approval.

The ARA gratefully acknowledges the support of the many senior business people who contribute their time and expertise to this process.
