ARA 2023 Report of the Year: Main Roads Western Australia

Main Roads Western Australia is responsible for managing one of the most expansive road networks in the world. This includes building and maintaining roads, bridges and related infrastructure to provide a safe and reliable state-wide road-based transport system to meet the needs of the community, commerce and industry in the largest state in Australia. This was Main Roads 96th annual report.

Chair of the ARA Awards Committee Stephen Varady CSM said. “Main Roads WA produced an excellent report demonstrating conscious thought and effort went into every aspect to ensure information would be communicated effectively. It provides a clear, balanced and transparent view of the organisation’s progress towards achieving its strategic goals.”

In accepting the Award, Alan Colegate, Main Roads WA Executive Director Strategy & Communication, said winning the Report of the Year Award had resulted from many years of striving to attain a high standard of reporting. Entering the ARA Awards and receiving helpful advice and guidance by having feedback sessions with ARA adjudicators along the way had been a major key to their success. Over several years, the Main Roads report progressed steadily from not achieving any Award, to a Bronze Award, then to Silver and eventually to Gold, and consistently maintaining the Gold Award standard.

The Report of the Year is selected from Winners of the Best of Industry Sector Awards.
